obtaining a copy of this software and associated documentation files

   only. Noncommercial use means use that is not intended for or directed

2. Nature of the Software

AI Privacy Gateway is an AI API privacy proxy tool that intercepts and masks sensitive information in requests sent to AI APIs. It is a technical tool and does not provide legal advice, compliance guarantees, or security certifications. Users should:

• Consult legal professionals to ensure compliance with applicable data protection laws.
• Conduct independent security assessments before using the gateway to process sensitive data.
• Configure and test the gateway's masking rules according to their own requirements.

3. User Responsibilities

As a user, you agree to:

• Compliant Use: You are responsible for ensuring that your use of AI Privacy Gateway complies with all applicable laws and regulations, including but not limited to GDPR, CCPA, PIPL, HIPAA, and other data protection regulations.
• Data Control: You are the data controller of your data. AI Privacy Gateway is merely a tool in your infrastructure that processes data under your control.
• Security Configuration: You are responsible for securely deploying and configuring the gateway, including setting appropriate network access controls, key management, and backup strategies.

4. Disclaimer of Warranty

AI Privacy Gateway is provided "as is", without warranty of any kind, express or implied. The authors and copyright holders make no warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, non-infringement, or uninterrupted operation.

In particular, we do not warrant that: the gateway detects all types of sensitive information; masking is completely irreversible; or the gateway is resistant to all forms of attack.

5. Limitation of Liability

In no event shall the authors or copyright holders be liable for any claims, damages, or other liability arising from the use or inability to use this software, whether in contract, tort, or otherwise.

This includes, but is not limited to: losses from data breaches, business interruption, loss of goodwill, loss of data, or any indirect or consequential damages arising from the use of the gateway — even if advised of the possibility of such damages.

6. Third-Party Services

AI Privacy Gateway is itself not an AI service provider. It proxies requests to third-party AI API services you specify (e.g., OpenAI, Anthropic). These third-party services have their own terms of service and privacy policies; you are responsible for reviewing and agreeing to those terms.

7. Changes to Terms

We reserve the right to update these terms of service at any time. Material changes will be announced via the GitHub repository. Continued use of the software constitutes acceptance of the updated terms.

8. Governing Law

These terms shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the People's Republic of China. Any disputes arising from these terms shall be submitted to the competent courts in the location of the project maintainers.
